SEE THE WRITER. He writes about films and culture—a vocation, most would say, of a cult. He spends most days perched over a book, reading, as is consciously posed in the picture below.
Armando is a culture writer and film critic based in Pasig City, Philippines. He writes about films, culture, He’s most known for running Unreel, a fully independent film publication covering Filipino cinema, and Deep Cuts, a newsletter on horror media. The rest of his work appears in places like Rappler, 8List, Screen Anarchy, CBR, and Modern Horrors.
He is an avid reader, frustratingly less and less in recent years, but an avid reader nonetheless. Armando’s reading log is updated in real-time here.
When he’s not writing for publications and magazines, he huddles with marketing teams as a fractional copywriter.
Armando likes to travel to off-the-beaten paths, across Asia, where he spends his holidays trying to immerse in other countries’ cultures, cuisines, and fashions. Stories not published elsewhere live inside his Field Journal, which lives in this website.
